So, Thanksgiving is over for another year. If you’re anything like the post-holiday team at the Interior Design Shoppe, you’re wearing sweatpants, dreaming of curling up somewhere quiet. And we’ve got JUST the place to do that! In this week’s fabulous edition of Small Space, Big Living, we’ve rounded up 8 cozy nooks for small spaces that you’ll want to crawl into immediately.
1. The Conversation Nook
We realize that not everyone has a perfectly sun-soaked, white-washed brick den that can be converted to a Bohemian meditation nook. Got an awkward closet or study that’s not living up to it’s potential? Those’ll work too!
2. Tiny Closet Nook
The perfect nook for the square-footage challenged! We’re always preaching about building UP and this is a great example of how to do just that. We love the idea of making this utilitarian storage wall a little more homey by sneaking in a tiny cuddle nook.
3. Bed Nook
How. Adorable. Is. THIS?! And does it come in grown-up size? We love this adorable solution to a small bedroom. With a little genius DIY carpentry, this room went from cramped to cozy by creating a haven for one. And the odd woodland creature is always welcome, obviously!
4. Under-Stairs Reading Nook
You may think that the area under your stairs is wasted space, but you’d be wrong! It’s just a nook goldmine waiting to be discovered! Don’t overthink this spot- add in a plush, overstuffed chair, a side table to store books (and hold your tea!), plug in a pretty task lamp and you’ve got yourself a delicious little reading nook.
5. Breakfast Nook
We can’t forget about the ever-important breakfast nook! A little built-in banquet eliminates the need for bulky chairs and a teeny bistro table is all it takes to complete the look. This quaint dining corner is a great place for your morning joe, or settle in for a snuggle over a romantic dinner.
6. Window Seat Nook
Even the smallest window can be made into a dreamy little nook. Bold pattern play in neutrals with a pop of colour in your favourite flower make this space personalized but not over the top.
7. Office Nook
Another would-be wasted under-the-stairs space brought to life! We love the idea of demo-ing this wall to create just enough square footage for a sweet little built-in office.
8. 3-in-1 Living Room Capsule
Don’t have any nooks in your open-concept space? Build your own! Once again, utilizing your vertical space by building up allows you to create the opportunity for cozy hideaways where there may not naturally be one. We also really appreciate how this truly defines the separate areas in an otherwise open floor plan. Bravo!
There’s so much potential in small spaces! Now that we’ve inspired you to create a little magical getaway of your own, it’s up to you to decide which nook appeals to you most. As for us, we’ll be here in our soft pants wishing away these extra holiday pounds.
